Several people in this Community are over 85!
My neighbors are 87 and 92. We lost one, due to a bad fall, last week...she would have been 96 on 10/05.
Several have "gone back home" to be near family as they get older.
Have a friend whose Mother just turned 96, know one who will be 99 and one who will turn 100 this year.
Only 85+ are thought to be the older folks!

Thank you! Happy Older Persons Day to all older people!

Cousin turned 100 September 18, 2023. Still has fairly good health. At age 90 you would have thought she was around a healthty 70 years. In the 10 years since she has aged a good bit but not down yet.

Define "older person".

Calendars and Minds do not always agree on "age."

We are 80 and 83 and have just moved back up north to be near family since we know that we are in the best health today that we'll be in for the rest of our lives. Didn't want one of us to be left to make the move alone. My mom (1915) lived to 100, my grandmother (1895) to 98, my great grandma (1863) to 96.

There is no defined age when you become a senior citizen. Some people might consider themselves seniors when they retire from the workplace, sign up for social security or begin to spend their retirement savings. Others aren't ready to call themselves senior citizens yet.
Here are some milestones that could indicate you’ve become a senior citizen:
- Qualifying for Medicare.
- Social Security eligibility.
- Receiving senior discounts.
- Spending retirement savings.
- Stepping away from work.
- Changes in health.
- A shift in priorities.
- Rethinking age stereotypes.
Woo-hoo! I guess since answering No to the above, at 57, I'm not a senior. Maybe in another 10 years...🤪
@SurferWife One of my supermarkets defines senior at 50! I was horrified when I was first given a discount without asking, but I got over it. I just wish to trick my body (incl face and hair) into thinking I am younger.

Probably the association or the foundation they are are associated with unless it's a Hallmark Moment" celebration.
