Re: It's Christmas in July QVC, not June, dah

I'm enjoying the programming enormously,  as are millions of actual paying QVC customers.

While I agree with you, I just turn it off. I have been getting Halloween promotional materials from another vendor. Again, I just ignore.

Retailers are just doing what retailers do.

this isn't the first year, of doing this. your frustration is noted now, get over it. it's just the way retail works. do something else.

@Pauline5147 Wow, way to judge people who don't share your love of CIJ.

@Tori3569 , same here. I'm in New Jersey, and am already tired of the heat and humidity, even though summer just started.     Can't go for my long walks like I like to do in this weather, and just feel a bit cooped up at home.    I enjoy the Christmas shows, no matter what time of year they're on.

Re: It's Christmas in July QVC, not June, dah

I agree with you and I had this same sentiment when I received related promotional emails. I love Christmas (hence my username) and I have ALWAYS loved CIJ. However, it used to be "special." Long gone are the years where I would try to patiently wait for July 24th-25th when QVC would air their annual CIJ event. It was an event. Now it feels like those local summer flea markets that occur every weekend. I miss those days when CIJ was not only in July, but occurred over a long weekend. While I understand why QVC has made part of June and all of July their annual CIJ event, I still find it disappointing as I long for the nostalgia of CIJ from years past (I miss the Lisa Robertson CIJ shows). I'm also a bit disappointed in some of the responses to you for - in a sense -  "chastising" you for having an opinion. Maybe you are like me who absolutely loves CIJ and spends hundreds of dollars every year, but misses when CIJ actually occurred in July. I will stil enjoy the programming and order items at risk of selling out, but I do agree with you, even if we have different reasons for feeling the way we do.

@newjersey - I made it through most of it, but also recorded it so I can go through it later.  I haven't ordered anything yet, but I still like to see what's on offer.

If calling for a space where people can enjoy what they love without being baited into arguments is “judging,” then perhaps you’ve misunderstood the point. I didn’t criticize anyone for disliking CIJ, I criticized the constant negativity that hijacks festive threads and turns everything into a debate. There’s a difference between having an opinion and weaponizing it. If that makes you uncomfortable, maybe reflect on why.

I worked in retail for years and in apparel our goal was to be out of summer inventory by July 4 weekend. We had fall apparel on the sales floor by July 5.

I'm enjoying Christmas in June!
