"Inexpensive" being the key word! Since I don't really decorate for Valentine month-- but this year I wanted *something*. ( Early, early "spring fever"?) Decided on faux flowers. Hardly EVER get them, since I don't have room to store, and don't want to spend for the really spectacular blooms, and then have to store them forever, b/c they were expensive! In that case, I'd get fresh.
Have looked at Dahlia mixes, and wanted pinks, reds. Walmart has a standard, but really good combo-- you can find it in virtually every store!
Burgundy dahlias, sweet tea roses, etc. Only $6.48.
Joann's has a similar-looking, slightly more sparse mix, but with pink peony and roses, at $7. 49:
Joann's also has a single-color, dark pink dahlia bouquet, but for this purpose, I prefer a mix of different shades. $6.49.
This Joann's hydrangea bunch is tempting, and at least has a two-tone effect. On sale, at $4.99.
Suspense........ They're all good, at a small amount of money. I went with the first, Walmart bouquet, just because I want that burgundy/pink/ white combo, and delicate greenery. In future, I might cut it up to make more 'custom' combinations with other botanicals.
Love pink and red combined at Valentine's Day.
Pulled out my vintage Haeger, Art Deco style vase. Here's an image from online, of an identical one:
Plopped the bouquet in, and done! The clean white of the vase looks pretty good with those flowers:
I always have to change stuff around though. I have one more vase it might look good in. Another vintage one I have is a pink-on-pink Hull vase. Here's an identical one from online:
More of a madcap look, as opposed to the classical white, but could be fun. Maybe next week I'll switch them out, ha. Changing things up keeps me off the streets...
If you do any kind of decorating nod to Valentine's, what will you do? Happy Valentine's Month!

@Oznell I liked all the options and am glad you are happy with the one you chose!
I purchased a red tablecloth with hearts for Valentine's day last year so that is my ode to the holiday.
I finally put all my Christmas decorations away and had to bring out most of my spring/summer decorations as my storage is so limited!! I did get a few blue and white hydrangea picks from Valerie last year and they look pretty in the mosaic vase I have. I will be celebrating spring long before it actually arrives!

I vote for the Hull vase, more romantic 🩷
I have my pink glass collection from years ago, mostly Fenton, on the mantle.

@Oznell LOVE the bouquet you chose! Love the design of it as well as the colors and flowers.
My pov for what it's worth:
You said: "The clean white of the vase looks pretty good with those flowers:" I agree 100%! I also think the clean white brings out the white flowers and of course the other colors which all go beautifully with the clean white color. Stunning vase too!
Re the Hull vase and that particular bouquet: I would need to satisfy my desire for a bouquet to compliment/bring out the beauty of the Hull vase. As I passed by it in my house, I would always be looking for colors in the bouquet that "match" the vase lol. I would instead look for color combos in a bouquet that would accentuate the Hull's fun beauty or put one together myself. Your particular Hull vase lends itself well to bright green leaves of springtime, and I would make sure I included some of the pink from the vase along with other colors/whites/pastels even with a bold pink that compliment it. It's a pretty vase and I would want to bring out its beauty, not overwhelm it with the bouquet that's perfect in the white vase. You have great taste, so I would defer to you haha.... especially since it's in your house
Here are some ideas I came across. I'm not married to the photos, just using them to give a visual to my rambling mind.
The first pic is from etsy. Just googled and used image search. The second is from Pinterest, came from the same search.
The bouquets' colors bring out the beauty in the Hull vases, vs takes away from or looks too mismatched... for me that is lol.
As always, thanks for the great pictures and thought-provoking post!

@Oznell I have some the pink hydrangea I use quite often. They also come in some other pretty colors which I love.

@DSD2 -- a heart tablecloth such as yours is the perfect "nod", and has the advantage of being a breeze to store. Your Valerie hydrangeas in a mosaic vase sound so 'breath of spring', and so welcome at this point. I still have some pine branches in a tall vase, so they will have to co-exist with my dahlias and tea roses, ha....
@OneHappyHiker , of course you're right. My Hull vase is not quite the ideal vessel for a variegated bouquet like my dahlia mix-- yet, yet.... in certain moods I would like the slight cacophany, believe it or not. But, in general, I agree with your point, which is well proved by your images of Hull vases and beautifully compatible bouquets! Thanks for posting them and for your ideas, keep 'em coming.
@Estellee , I love hydrangeas for a bouquet -- so picturesque!

@Oznell You said, " in certain moods I would like the slight cacophany, believe it or not." - that lol! I'm not quite there yet but maybe one day...:

Not a fan of valentines day--never was--but I do get my daughter a little something----found a small bag of Lindt truffles made from oatmilk--she can't eat any dairy--for around $7--she will be thrilled.
