There is no right way to decorate, if that is what you want now.  Do it.  It's your life and your home; you get to decorate in your own way.

I am not only done with decorating I am done with Xmas.  The insanity around this holiday, the gift giving and then running to the stores to exchange the unwanted gifts.  The behavior around this holiday borders on insanity.  People go into debt for the whole year.  Many years ago when it wasn't such a commercialized affair Christmas was nice.  Of course there was no 'Christmas in July' and December was the only month for preparation and Christmas music.
