I Love These Bethlehem Lights Faux Oil Lamps

[ Edited ]

Bethlehem Lights Set of 2 Faux Oil Lamps w/ Frosted Base

H465922  Kind of expensive at $79.98 for 2, but they look like the real thing. We must have 10 or more antique oil lamps, but we don't burn them for various reasons. They come in garnet, pearl, onyx and emerald. Three C batteries, with 9 months battery  life.

I love them too.  I can just see them on a windy night when the power goes out.  (Which it does quite regularly here.)

They are sitting in my cart, but I don't really want to blow my budget so early in the day.

Yes, these are very pretty. I also have a bunch of old, oil lamps. I do occasionally use mine, so I don't have any need of these. They would make a great option for those who can't/don't want to use a real flame, though.

I love them.  I have old ones that I decorate with but do not light.  This is going in my cart.

I have an original one my parents purchased in 1936 during the flood (I believe it cost under $1.00!).  One of my treasures.

I would like a real one but because I am not familiar with them, I would be afraid to use it. My MIL had one and used it.

@Sakuya  The original oil lamps give off a nice glow, but I get headaches from even the non-scented oil. Also, if you have any young children or pets in the house, it's not a good idea to light them. Much more dangerous than candles. We have my grandmother's Victorian banquet lamp and used to light it. My uninitiated brother decided to look into the top of the globe and singed his hair and eyebrows!

Those are pretty. I like the green and red base ones.

@PA Mom-mom - Oh my that could have turned out so much worse for your brother! Glad it was just a hair singe!

I had not even thought about there being a smell to using a real oil lamp.

Ohhh, those are really cool! Right up my alley... I love everything lighting and especially mood lighting. I haven't looked at them yet but depending on the size the price may not be too too bad because it is for 2.

Thanks for posting these, well maybe thanks, haha, depending on if I buy them or not!
