Re: How do you decorate your tree?

This year I did snowmen theme.  Last few years I've given my kids their ornaments to use on their trees.  I didn't do a tree for a longtime and finally bought a nice 4' that I put on the table for height.

Re: How do you decorate your tree?

I have a 36 inch tree which has an ornament ( some very old) with the name or photo of each of my previous cats. The tree also has several cardinals, a few pinecones, and a photo ornament of one human--my dad-- who died in 2018 at age 92.

Re: How do you decorate your tree?

I have a six foot artificial tree. Can't have live, hubby and son are allergic. My decorations are ones I have collected over the years. Every time we go on vacation I buy a Christmas ornament. I have ornaments from when my kids were little, ornaments that were given to me over the years, ones I've bought. The finished product looks great!🎄

Re: How do you decorate your tree?

Our livingroom tree is a 7ft white tree. It's pre-lit. This year, we have it toggling between white lights and bright multicolored lights. The ornaments are very traditional, a mix between old and new. The dining room tree is green. Hubby strung white lights.  We call it "the kid's tree".  The grandkids decorated it with anything they wanted...almost.

Folks, the imagination i am reading about on this thread makes ne so wish that I could see pictures of all your trees!  Toppers made of lollipop bouquets and tiaras, woodland creatures and crystal ornaments, Hallmark to the max, faux fur garland! I know its tricky but if you can share, its welcomed.

Thanks for the fun ! Im a slim tree, various ornaments, no garland, multicolored mini lights gal myself.

@LizzieInSRQ Although not the greatest picture, here is the tiara atop my tree.  The tree is nine feet tall so it was difficult to get close.  The tiara works well because although my ceilings are 10 ft, the tree is located right under a coffered beam so it just barely fits.

[ Edited ]

@J Town Girl Like you, I might admire "themed" colored or "designed" trees, many are lovely....and could do one if that was my style, but it isn't.

I get great joy doing my two trees, one full sized, one vintage three foot skinny tree...in what I'd say is a curated collection of memories...a happy "hodge podge" as you called it. Not messy at all though... or "busy"....all looks like beautiful, traditional and old fashioned Christmas...and that's what I love best.

Curated over decades, dating back to the vintage ornaments that I know were passed down from my maternal grandmom's tree, to my mom and hence were on my childhood trees. To many ornaments either collected on different occasions, made for me from relativess, friends, many no longer here. Bought at favorite gift shops dating back to childhood and up to the present.

It may seem a cliche' "pitch" when sales people mention how "that person will think of you whenever they take out that ornament each year" but for me it's true. Just did my big tree the other day, (I'm late this year...but got it done!...and will keep it up a little later)....and truly, as I place each ornament on the tree I have memories of times and people attached to every one. I love that type of tree best....a tree with a lifetime of memories and stories to tell. 🎄✨Merry Christmas!

I have a pink tree with cupcake, lollipops and cotton candy ornaments along with toy and fairy ornaments. I went elegant for awhile with lots of floral swags but I missed the childlike feeling of Christmas and do this instead now.
I also have a large lollipop bouquet I use as a tree topper.

@GenXmuse I love the sounds of that tree!... and your spirit, which I relate to. I love whimsy and "childlike" fun at Christmas too. Actually, I always love a bit of whimsey sprinkled into year-round decor. 💖

@faeriemoon...that is so elegant! Your coffered ceilings are too. So so pretty. This is so fun to see, thanks for time showing us!

Re: How do you decorate your tree?

We have an artificial tree as I am extremely allergic to real trees.  We decorate it with ornaments we have have acquired through our 42 years of marriage and also a few heirloom ornaments that were on my parent's tree.  I like to get ornaments from places we have travelled to and lived in (30 year US Navy family).  The tree is like a stroll down memory lane!

I should add that a lot of our ornaments are representations of our dogs and cats - including a large collection of basset hound ornaments - we have 3!
