@texassunflower wrote:I have back issues. Herniated disc and a bulging disc. The epidural I had in November increased my pain. I started Christmas decorating today and I overdid it. I know I will feel it tomorrow, just like I hurt badly this afternoon. I haven't even started on the tree. I think it's time to re- evaluate how much decorating I need to do for Christmas. Not every surface needs to be covered in Christmas decor. I only decorate the living room but bending and lifting did me in this afternoon. Those of you with bad backs or other issues, do you decorate less or just take longer to complete the task? I will be downsizing after this year. I think I would be content with just a tree, a wreath over the fireplace and stockings on the mantel. Also a wreath on outside door and cute doormat.
@texassunflower I was watching an Ozzie and Harriet Christmas show the other day, and their decorating consisted of cards on the mantle with greens on either end, like my Mother used to do, a tree, wreath over the mantle, and outside lights. It reminded me of the scarce decorating of yesteryear, but it was enough and wonderful then.

@Carmie wrote:Christmas isn't about decorating. I just do what I feel like doing. I buy a fresh wreath for the front door and I have a lighted 3 ft flocked tree decorated with one red cardinal...no other ornaments.
I have collected large handmade Santa's over the years, so I put some, but not all of them out. I add a few candles and a little of this and that and I am done.
Christmas will not pass you by if you don't decorate to the hilt. Just do what you can and will enjoy the most.
Nothing is worse than spending the Christmas season in bed with a heating pad pumped full of drugs....then repeating the process and the pain when you have to put everything away.
@Carmie. I love this idea as I adore cardinals.
