I saw Halloween already also!  Geez can we just get to September before Halloween?  As for the Christmas stuff I just don’t watch it. I’m hoping Fall Fashion Day will be loaded with new styles for us all.

Stores do this every year. By July 4 summer clothes and bathing suits are wiped out. Back to school is on the shelves followed by Halloween.Fall and some winter clothes are already out. Christmas decorations are out before Halloween. Valentine candy and decorations appear before Christmas.

  • About 30 years ago I purchased an amazing full length suede coat in a store at the NJ shore. It was 4th of July.weekend. A place that celebrates summer was already promoting winter.

So, we're doing Halloween and Christmas at the same time now?  I'm so confused.

Our Giant Eagle had a little bit of Halloween candy out 2 weeks ago. This past weekend, the store is full of Halloween candy displays.  Crazy.

I have to wonder....is this last year's candy?  I saw some in my local supermarket and thought it couldn't be fresh in 85 degree weather.

Schools here start their "Fall Semester" early, aywhere from August 12-August 20th (depending on the School District) and teachers in Elementary Schools go to their classrooms a few weeks ahead of time to decorate them for Fall....so I can see the stores here putting out the Fall stuff in July....We are a big city and that's a lot of classrooms..... And also for crafters that need time to complete projects, and for decorinistas that love Fall and want to start their Fall decorating in August.....

Personally I put my Fall stuff up the day after Labor Day......

Retailers have customers trained, like Pavlov's dogs.  They know if they show items out of season, even ridiculously far out of season, that bell goes off in shoppers heads and they buy, buy, buy.  If the Halloween candy is out, customers will buy it and eat and keep at it until Halloween comes.  It's like CIJ, if the retailers didn't push it, no one would even think about buying Christmas stuff in July.  The hottest July on record at that.  That's why the Valentine's Day candy and cards and knick Knacks go out the day after Christmas.  The CVS near me actually put Valentines Day stuff out a week before Christmas last year. It does keep money pumping into the economy, so it's not all bad.
