After spending the last few days wrapping all of the Christmas presents with beautiful papers and ribbon, I've come to the conclusion that wrapping paper, ribbon and greeting cards should have a GQ (Glitter Quotient) rating system. Holy cow the house has glitter and sparkles EVERYWHERE! Had I known that some of the paper and ribbons would shed so much I never would have bought them.
I think it would be very helpful if the manufacturers would use a GQ rating based on how much glitter you will find in your home and on yourself after using their products. Something like this:
GQ0 = Glitter free!
GQ1 = Minimal glitter shedding: A sparkle here, a sparkle there, no big deal.
GQ2 = Moderate glitter shedding; Wash face and hands before leaving the house, light vacuuming suggested.
GQ3 = Severe glitter shedding; Heavy vacuuming required, wash all clothing, take a shower before leaving house.
GQ4 = Catastrophic glitter shedding; Just move, it will be easier. The glitter will never disappear no matter how much you clean and vacuum!
.....i yi yi....... 😉

you didn't see the glitter on the paper and ribbon you bought?! that's the first thing i look for...and when i open holiday cards...i do it over the trash can...just in case an inconsiderate person mailed me a card with glitter...if it has glitter...it goes directly into the trash......as you can probably tell....glitter sends me off the wall!! i am definitely a GQ0 person!!

Some of my Halloween decor had a GQ3 and I still see orange glitter on the garage floor.

@nana59 Of course I saw the glitter on the paper. Some glitter sheds more than others. My post was only intended to be lighthearted and humorous.

@nana59 Oh geez! I'm sorry you are going through that. The waiting for an answer is so stressful in itself. I hope you hear soon and the results are negative. Crossing my fingers for you!

I guess I've never had a problem with glitter on wrapping paper or ribbons.
My DIL hates glitter. Any time one of her kids do an art project using glitter, I told her I'd take it! I have a turquoise shark with bucked teeth and sparkly fins hanging on a wall going up the stairway. It doesn't even *shed*. I love it.
One of the Christmas cards I received yesterday must've had some glitter on it because I had a *sparkle* on my cheek last night.
