OK now don't toss any pumpkins at me but I started August 1st. Why? This has to be the hottest most humid Summer on record here and I needed Fall. Not outside yet that comes late September. But in here ahhhhhhh it's Autumn and I love it. 🎃🎃🎃🎃

@KailaS wrote:I have already started. (Don't judge too harshly. LOL) The summer has been awful with a seriously ill family member, a 93 year old mother with dementia, and a cat who seems to be dying. I decided about a week ago that whenever I had time, especially during those times when I could not sleep, I would add a bit of joy to my home/life and begin decorating. Everything already had been cleaned, so I added linens and then pulled out actual decor. Two rooms downstairs are almost done. My outside wreath, garden flags, etc. are still summer- based. (I did not want my neighbors to think I was crazy.)
@KailaS That's the spirit! You go girl...........our homes should always bring us joy and add much needed comfort to our lives. I think of my home as a haven......yours sounds so lovely with all the added fall decor.
I hope things get better for you and your family soon......................![]()

Love Fall, however it is going to be in the 90's for about 6 days and I have no A/C. I believe I will wait until it cools a bit. Oh I do have a sign that says Give Thanks (with Pumpkins) hanging in my kitchen but I think you should give thanks anytime!

I live in the Southeast and our hot temps last well into October so it's difficult to decorate for the Fall when we're usually at least in the mid to high 80's. But it is my favorite season to decorate. I decorate for Halloween first. Have some really cool Halloween wreaths from Michaels and very large ceramic pumpkins for the porch that I put candles in. Plus another stuff. After than, I change to a more Fall/Thanksgiving decor. I'll probably start mid October. If it's real hot, later.

For me, in the DC area, it really isn't Fall for most of September.
After Labor Day, I generally start to remove the Summer/Coastal stuff and replace with non-seasonal items and slowly add in the pumpkins, acorns, and leaves.
It's not a complete turnover, more of a slow incorporation of items between September and Halloween.

I have family coming in town next week, so I will prob start as I clean after they leave. That would be the last weekend in August. I HATE summer in OKLA, so putting up my Autumn deco always makes me happy, and this year I think we all need to be happy at home!
I usually do it Labor Day weekend, if I waited til it cooled off here, it would be mid October!
