What have you thought of for Easter dessert?

I have done strawberry short cake to the point, I consider it a home snack.

I was thinking of making Millionaire Pie filling and putting it on lemon cream pound cake.

                                   Millionaire Pie

1 can crushed pineapple well drained

1 small can well drained mandarin orange, cut in half

½ C of green grapes cut in half

½ C chopped pecans

6 drained cherries with stems, or extra chopped pecans to garnish.

(One fruit may be replaced with grated coconut of the same measurement).

Juice of 1 fresh lemon

1 can sweetened condensed milk like Eaglebrand.

1 8oz cool whip, thawed.

In large bowl mix lemon juice with sweetened condensed milk.

Mix in pineapple, mandarin oranges, and chopped pecans.

Gently fold in thawed cool whip.

Pour into graham cracker crust.

Cover.  Chill for at least 5-6 hours.

Garnish before serving.

My mother, who cooked everything until she was sure it was DEAD, managed to create a fantastic lamb cake every year (!!)

That looks SO yummy and pretty!  Do you know how she did the wool on the lamb?  So much more attractive than the little stars that became boring to me.

Yum yum @ECBG this recipe looks delicious and I know I would love it.  Sadly, my boring family (probably) would not. They stay stuck on my chocolate cream pies and original Philadelphia Cream Cheese recipe served plain. They don’t even want something pretty to garnish - oh well at least (hopefully) we can be together.

Fingers crossed.

I’ve been thinking a lot about tiramisu but I’ve never made it. Boy, that would shake up my crew - hahaha.

@ECBG     My ma didn't allow me in "her" kitchen.   I do recall that she had a couple "form" pans to make the lamb "parts"...   The rest was "secret"(!)

My grandma was quite a baker, so she probably learned the cake at home growing up.

Me?   I watched Julia Child on TV.

Sadly, I don't have my grandmother's coconut cake recipe.  She had one of the first Sunbeam mixers, which I can't imagine a two layer cake coming from!

I know the coconut was fresh, I saw it in the kitchen but the Bakers is really great now.  She apparently did the 7 Minute Frosting.  She didn't make bakery icing, never.

I LOVE lemon meringue pie!  Edwards had the best and sadly discarded it!  The new one is terrible!  A bunch of fluff with a few lemon nuggets which is horrid!  I have left Edwards Pies!!!

My uncle owned a Danish bakery, and when I was young we always had a Napoleon kringle and/or a coconut cake in the shape of a rabbit with jelly bean eyes and nose.

We also had a colored egg bread and lamb-shaped butter.
