Good morning all.

At this point I'm projecting-and venting-about the 4 orders I placed for Cheryl's Butter Cream Christmas Cookies. When ordering they want a street address because they don't deliver to PO Boxes (perishible) However-all 4 boxes shipped UPS Surepost where they will end up...at the Post Office...for delivery. Problem is, one of the recipients does not have mail delivered to their home-just a PO Box which means it will either be returned as non deliverable or sit there at the PO-probably crushed-for days until they can get there.

Thanks for listeningWoman Mad

@Lizzybean Surepost, Smartpost, etc...I suppose they help the delivery companies cut some costs, but they are not great service for a customer.

And, if your package is sitting at the PO already just put it in the PO box.

Re: Cheryl's Christmas Cookies

@Lizzybean - The reason you can't provide a PO box for delivery is not due to the perishable nature of the product—it's because UPS doesn't deliver to PO boxes and they handle the initial shipping and logistics. It may depend on the delivery area, but I've found that even if Cheryl's cookies shipments include a SurePost option in the tracking, they're still almost always directly delivered by UPS. This is a good thing as far as a speedier delivery, but as you noted, it will potentially cause a problem if a PO box is the destination. Hope it all works out well for you!

(And just FYI, if you order directly from Cheryl's, they often ship via FedEx with a SmartPost option included in tracking, but again, FedEx usually delivers directly without the passoff to the USPS.)

That's disappointing for sure.  I read an article recently that said USPS is having difficulty delivering the mail because they are overwhelmed by Amazon and other packages.  It's getting to the point that I won't order something if it isn't shipped all the way and delivered by UPS.

No, I didn't. For the most part perishables are shipped UPS Ground.

Re: Cheryl's Christmas Cookies

I guess my point is, if they don't allow a PO box as a shipping address, they probably shouldn't ship them surepost so they end up at the post office. I guess I was foolish to think since po boxes aren't allowed, they would be shipped ups ground.?
