I did see her get emotional during the show with Jane. That caller said just the right things, and I can only imagine how hard this is for her right now. She is going through "the firsts". This is her first CIJ without her mom and I'm sure she is dreading the holidays on some level deep inside this year.

I was afraid she was going to have to leave the presentation for a moment, but she pulled herself together, barely.

Of all the various hosts and vendors that have been with Q a long time and that I enjoy watching, I do believe that Valerie is what we see on air. I think she is a very kind, calm gracious and giving woman, and I have to admit, I shed a tear with her yesterday.

@Mominohio I agree that the caller was so wonderfully eloquent.  I don't think anyone could have addressed that better.  I really felt her pain in that moment, and thank heavens she managed to pull it together.  Its going to be a tough year.  It was good to hear that her sons are home for the summer.  I'm sure that helps a lot.

@RazorSharp

I was surprised when she said they were home. I thought by now, with college and all the internships and studies abroad that kids do, they'd never be home except holidays. Glad to know they are with her and helping keep her centered during this hard time.

Seems like when we put our 'mom hat' on, we can let go of a lot of the other strife in our life, and she is at a point where she doesn't get to put that hat on everyday anymore, and have her time and mind occupied by children's needs.

That transitional time of kids leaving and loosing parents or other close older relatives can be very painful and even overwhelming. Life as you have known it for what seem like forever, changes very rapidly for some people at that point in time.

Hopefully getting back into the swing of being on air and busy at Q will help.

Just an observation.  While many of VPH's older items received full presentations, 2 of her newest items did not receive presentations.  Her new Mercury Glass Trees (H208700) and the new Swirl Finials (H208791) were shown in the background and had their item numbers referenced, but they were never given individual presentations.  I wonder if the reason that the MG trees weren't showcased was because it was obvious that when the studio lights went down, only the bottom half of the trees were lit because of the light source- the tea light in the base.  Also, I noticed that very few of the swirl finials were showcased around the set and barely referenced.  I wonder if this delicate, glass design didn't ship so well...Anyone else think this was odd?

You may well be right.  However, sometimes an item isn't shown if it is selling really well without being shown or if there are plans to feature it in a later show like those scheduled for the CIJ weekend.

@Marsha2003 Good point. I noticed that she didn't present the new, oversized snowman and woman. I wondered if a lot of this stuff may just have been brought in to use as set dressing.

@RazorSharp @Marsha2003  They will probably be presented when she returns.  I think yesterday was mainly to get rid of the leftovers, and TSV arranged to get people to watch as with not much new, there wouldn't be much of an audience.

@mousiegirl  Valeriie won't even have to present the MG trees, because 3 out of 5 of the colors sold out without a presentation.  Silver and gold are the only ones left.

@RazorSharp  I bought several sets of Home Reflections mercury glass trees several years ago, larger and I think much prettier than Valerie's, and I am a Valerie fan.Smiley Happy

@mousiegirl I love those Home Reflections trees.  It looks like they are fully lit from top to bottom, and they are a nice size.  I just have so many Merdury Glass trees that it doesn't make sense for me to get any version.  What do you think of the new Snowflake Luminaras? I think they'd look great on the blue TSV pedestals.

@mousiegirl  I also have two of the HR MG trees in green.  They are very pretty.  I thought I wanted Valerie's trees but don't like the glitter lines on them.  I don't need them but the gold color looks good, not too brassy like some of her gold items.  I only bought the Hemlock candle rings.

@lucymo  In addition to the two sets of candle holders, I bout the CI Angel with cardinals, for my red room. Smiley Happy  I have the Christmas and Thanksgiving from last year, and they are beautiful.

Did you watch Jill's show?  I bought the wrapped glass candy, but I noticed afterward that the one she was holding had missing glitter on the white stripe, which I consider a defect, so hopefully mine will be okay.

@RazorSharp  I think they are pretty, and would look great on the blue, but I am not a blue fan, I am a red girl. Smiley Happy  I have way too much decor also, but my biggest weakness is Valerie's garlands, so I hope I can resit as I have plenty.

@mousiegirl  I saw the defects in a couple of those glass candy pieces and it surprised me as HR are usually better than that.  I think it is Home Reflections, Isn't it?  Well, lets hope yours will be better.  I used to have some small pieces like that that I bought at Ben Franklinstore.  I put it out in a crystal dish for holidays.  I think I passed it on to someone in the family.  It said one of two things, they don't pick and choose what they show or that was the best of the lot.  LOL..JK.

Glad you found something you liked.  That Cardinal Angel is gorgeous and we know CI is made well.  I almost got the set of trees that Valerie had but I didn't really like the mix of glitter and MG stripes so after I thought about it, I canceled the order.  So, I only ordered the Hemlock candle rings.

I ordered only one item, the set of 3 poinsettia and berry picks to fill out my garland. Everything else looked like last years set of the same items. I am looking forward to the shows later in the month for the new items.
