Has anybody purchased a tree from Balsam Hill? What is your opinion? Is it really heavy? I have been searching for a white tree with multi lights medium fullness.

I do multiple trees and my large ones are getting old and worn. I don't want flocked. I'm not going there again with that treatment.  I put them up myself so I need the sections to be no heavier than 20 pounds.

Thank you in advance for your comments.

Re: BALSAM HILL CHRISTMAS TREES

We bought a prelit Balsam Hill tree 4 years ago. I think it’s 6’5” tall. I’m usually the one who puts our tree up, then DH and DS help decorate it. I’m 5’4” tall and I can lift the 3 sections and plug them into each other by myself. The bottom/fullest section is a little heavy, but you’re not lifting it very high, so it’s manageable.

My complaint about our tree is that the lights didn’t work after the first year. Their trees have a 1year warranty. The first year, every light on that tree worked perfectly. The 2nd year, a couple of light sections were out and we couldn’t get them to work, so we covered them with extra ornaments. Last year, only 1 or 2 light sections worked and we had to make a Home Depot run to get lights for our prelit tree. After we finished decorating the tree, I googled “complaints about Balsam Hill Christmas trees” and was shocked at the number of complaints and the variety of serious issues. Long story short, we were lucky the only problem we had was with the lights, since we could buy new lights. Most people said their customer service staff were useless, with some laughing at them when they tried to resolve their issues. Some had paid $1000 or more for their deficient trees.

We’ll be putting our tree up again this year, because it does look nice with all the lights and ornaments on it. However, if I had it to do over again, I’d buy a tree locally where I could return it easily if there were problems.

We bought a 4 or a 4 1/2 ft. tree to put on a table. It was difficult to put together and the bottom of the tree looked like someone just cut a 5 foot tree in half. We've seen better trees. It was not worth the price.

Re your question about weight. It was pretty heavy for a tree that size and it came in 2 pieces.

Re: BALSAM HILL CHRISTMAS TREES

2 of my cousins, mother and son, bought trees from Balsam Hill.  This will be the third year they are putting them up.  So far neither has had an issue with lights going out.  However, my one cousin isn't that thrilled only because there are so many lights, when her tree is lit, it's like a landing strip in her living room.  LOL

When she bought her tree, the entire bottom half didn't light. She contacted BH and they sent her a new bottom half and didn't make her return the entire tree or even the broken bottom piece.

Re: BALSAM HILL CHRISTMAS TREES

I LOVE my Balsam Hill tree!!!

This wil be the second year for it. Heavy? I would not say too heavy, but heavier.

Sturdy. Lifelike. Love!

Mine has NO lights. I would rather do my own lights. Andbesides, if the lights do go out, no trashing of the entire tree, just the bad strand. Personal choice.

You can always call them for any and all questions or concerns on their products.

@Fressa I ordered a new tree from Balsam Hill earlier today...our 1st from this site. We were WAY overdue for an upgrade of our main tree in the livingroom.

As for answering your question about weight, of coarse it will vary depending on what size/type of tree. Based on how the information for each tree type/size/height is laid out on the Balsam Hill site, there is no breakdown on weights for individual portions of the trees. I can only suggest giving them a call with your concern.

The one I chose is the 6.5' unlit 'Bellevue Spruce' which only has a 38" diameter base and it is just 24 lbs (no added weight from lights). I'll just guess that the biggest part of the tree would be about 15 lbs. I chose the unlit version since we prefer to choose our own lights and if any of the lights stop functioning we can either fix them or replace them without having to replace the tree.

I also thought for $239 (40% off w/FREE S&H ONLY til Nov 9th), I wanted to grab one before they sold out or the sale ended.

I've looked at trees in a few brick & mortor stores lately and I'm not impressed with any of them. There is a lot of great reviews for the trees at Balsam Hill, so I was sold.

Hope you find one that makes you happy and suits your needs Smiley Happy

@Fressa    Balsam Hill is so over priced.  Look at QVC because they generally have the best values.  Perhaps you could do a Google to see if there are other companies out there with what you want.  Cat Happy
