Re: Anyone order from Collections Etc?

Oh I used to order from them a lot many years ago! I furnished our old cottage when we first got it 15 years ago. I didn't want to spend much so this cheap stuff fit the bill! When we decided to tear down our old place and build this new place where we're living now, I sold everything at one of our annual garage sales. Got rid of everything.

@mousiegirl  I'm glad changing browsers helped you get your order in.  I think that cake plate is so cute but my kitchen doesn't have extra space to use anymore than I already have in it.  I hope you will be pleased with it when it comes in.

@mousiegirl  I hope you like and enjoy your purchase Woman Very Happy

I ordered this to put on my door for Halloween.....other than a fall doormat this is far as I go for outside Halloween decorating....

@Spurt This is adorable!  Smiley Happy  I didn't look around on the site, so I may do that.

@mousiegirl

They have some cute and differnet things.....the only thing I'd watch out for is the AS SEEN ON TV merchandise that doesn't always live up to expectations---LOL!

There used to be a place called Terry's Village, but the owner decided to close up shop.....I used to really love that site....he had similar stuff to Collections Etc, but also a bit upgraded stuff too....  I miss that, but you know there are other retailers out there too.....I went to Hobby Lobby this weekend and they had so many nice fall and Christmas things.....

@Spurt  I shopped at Terry's Village also, I get around, lol.  I bought some beautiful deer recently on Amazon and some more casual deer at zulily, and it's only September! Smiley Happy  There is no longer a Hobby Lobby, it closed down, but there is a Home Goods store.  I have stayed out of there this year as I do enough damage here, and at amazon, zul;ily, and ebay, but I fear that as Christmas nears, I may break down and just have to go.

Re: Anyone order from Collections Etc?

I wanted to post an update regarding my order.  I received my order of 3 items.  The lighted nativity scene is very pretty; however, the lighted star at the top fell off.  Now I know it can be glued on, but it has a small battery in that area, so I called to get a replacement.  The person "John" (could hardly understand him) said, just keep it; no need to send it back; we'll give you a credit to use in the future.

Ok, so I get the email with the credit but has to be used by Dec. of this year.

I also ordered a set of 3 nativity led candles and while the reviews are great, I found them very "chinzy" looking.  Even my DH said the same thing.  I chose to return them using their label.  I checked with the po and their label was $1.79 less (or 7.99) to be deducted from the 19.99.

I checked online and it was received on 9/23.  I gave it until today and went on their website to check on the return status according to their directions on the packing slip.  I found nothing under my account, so I called the number.  A person answered and asked "what did you want to order?" I said, I need to inquire about a return.  He said he doesn't do that and he would have to transfer to me to that number.  I asked him for the number, but he said he cannot give it out - what!!!?  I then end up with a female who I could hardly understand who inquired.  She told me to go on their website and I said I did.  She said, "no scroll to the bottom and click on returns.  I said why wouldn't it show up in my account?  Oh no, you have to click on returns, then type in your order #.  Well, I have 3 things under one order #.  So I tried to do that, and ended up right back under my order status.

Then she tells me to click on "tracking".  I said, all that's going to do is tell me that they were all delivered.  She asked me to hold.  I was then told that they have a "different" system that they see and customers cannot get that info from their account status.  Ok, so why do they have on their packing slip to check your returns on their website?  It makes no sense.

She did check on my return which was processesd yesterday, so I will be checking on the status with my cc.  So now I have a 17.00 credit to use by mid Dec, but in order to use it, I still have to pay the shipping and handling charges.  I think I'm going to forget it.

Sorry for the long rant; but wanted my cyber friends to be aware of how they handle returns.  IMO, it's ridiculous that they won't give you the direct CS number to talk to someone, let alone put the status of your return under your account.

And the funny thing is, I just got an email today asking for me to review the only thing I liked, so apparently they knew not to ask about the other 2.  I noticed a lot of reviews there are 4 and 5 stars, so I'm beginning to wonder about those too.

Lesson learned and I won't be ordering from there again.

@HisElk1

Sorry for your experience and disappointment in Collections Etc......you can go online to post your poor review and poor experience even without an email for those items. I would do that just to warn other customers.......And with that bad Customer Service it's 3 strikes and they're out and I wouldn't order from them anymore either....

I guess I had better experiences and better luck ....I got a wrong item sent, but was told to keep it and they sent out the correct item I had ordered really fast! I guess it depends on what you order too......what I ordered recently was decent quality but I did have that one fall arrangement a couple years ago that I sent back since it was chintzy..So I guess it's hit or miss with them which isn't good!! ..

Re: Anyone order from Collections Etc?

@Spurt, thanks for your post.  I really thought hard about posting about this, but I felt compelled to do so in order for others to know how returns work.

While it was nice of "john" to allow me to keep the nativity scene that the star broke on, I sure didn't realize I only had until Dec. to use it.

What really got me was the part about not giving the CS phone # to inquire about returns plus they state on their packing slip to check online.  I followed their directions, but couldn't find out anyway unless I called.

I think that's what frustrated me the most and is probably the main reason I won't order from them again.  Out of 3 items, there's only the one item  that will work for me.  I just hope I can get the nativity scene working with the battery operated star.

Thanks for your post.

I'm glad you posted your experience to let us other shoppers know.  The whole thing just went totally WRONG!!!  Sounds like their Customer Service is poorly trained and poorly equipped to resolve problems and/or returns.....I don't want to deal with a company like that way too frustrating and it just wastes my time too....!!!!

That's wierd about not giving you the phone number.

Good Luck I hope you get the natiivity up and going....

Take Care!

Re: Anyone order from Collections Etc?

It's been a few years since I ordered from Collections and they were good then.  No trouble with CS but like a lot of other companies, looks like CS has gone downhill.  If the CS isn't good, I steer clear of  the company because lets face it, sooner or later we will need to deal with them.

@HisElk1  I'm so sorry that your purchase didn't work out well.  Hopefully, you will get something with your merchandise credit.  I don't like to be given only a credit option because if I'm having problems with the company, I probably don't want to order again.  Give me the money back.

@lucymo, never did I expect to get the answer from CS today that I did.  I ended up getting so frustrated with the woman I was trying to understand that I ended up telling her she could talk to my DH who has a bit more patience than me.  I could see the frustration on his face as he was put on hold several times only to be told things that didn't make sense.  As for the $17 credit, yes, I'd much rather have the $ back and be done with it.  I'm just not sure that it's worth it to me.  My DH found something for 12.99 he was interested in, but again, if I order it, will it work and I still have to pay the s&h.

Maybe I might reconsider and try to return it as it's just "ok".  The other item I ordered was  nice and I plan to keep it.  But 1 out of 3 items is not enough for me to do biz with them again and having to check on a return and sitting on hold for the order person to connect you to that department is just not good biz IMO.

Re: Anyone order from Collections Etc?

@HisElk1  When I ordered from Collections they had everything for $14.99 or less if on sale.  I was always collecting sets of 8" decorative plates for my wall rack so I could change out for the season.  Collections had a lot of nice quality ones then and I never had to return any of them.  I did have a few things that didn't measure up to quality standands(mine) and they took care of it, no problems.  Guess they changed when they got a website, I ordered by catalog.

Re: Anyone order from Collections Etc?

When I am unhappy about a site's customer service, I go to Facebook and let them know.  They usually take care of the matter quickly.  I have done this on 4 differenct occasions - and they always responded quickly.  They don't want current or future customers to read bad reviews.  When the matter is taken care of, I post a positive comment, as a follow-up.
