Re: do you keep handbags out of dust cover for storage?

I use dust covers on all my handbags.... but I often use white cotton pillow cases or pillow protectors in place of the dust cover provided by the manufacturer. Light colored handbags should not be stored in dark colored dust covers. And leather handbag should not be stored in plastic boxes.

I use a pillow case if I don't have a dust bag for a particular leather bag.

Oddly....I have never used the dust bags for my purses...I line them up on the closet shelf and there is where they stay....if I am going to use one...I take it down and dust it off...

I don't have as many as you....

I hate to admit that I have 80+. I never used the dust bags. I also have them lined up on shelves in a hall closet. My husband knows it is my purse closet and he doesn't even look in there! I can see them easily, use them easily and never have had a problem. They don't appear to get dusty...

I keep my stored handbags in their dust bags or pillowcases so that there is no chance of any color transfer from one bag to another.

If the handbag was expensive enough to come with a dust bag, that's where it is stored.

I just read an article about leather and you aren't supposed to keep it in plastic. I don't have as many handbags as the OP. I keep them in dust bags on the floor of my closet. It's the only area I have. The shelves are filled with other items.

Leather needs to breathe - otherwise it will mold or dry out. I did have the mold situation one time ... yuck and whatta waste - I tossed the shoes. I keep my bags in their dust bags on the shelves in the closets. I have a small investment in bags so I want to keep them as nice as possible - plus I just love handbags

I keep my handbags in their dustcover when not in use. I only have two handbags, well, three.

Re: do you keep handbags out of dust cover for storage?

When you get your handbags keep the little moisture packets that come inside the handbag. When I'm not using the handbag, I put it in a dust cover or a pillowcase. I also, keep my shoes in their boxes.

If you need to store them, use a cloth box ( I have several that I bought from HSN, Joy M.) because plastic is hard on leather.

You also need to keep them from heat and moisture.

You may be able to wipe off leather, but dust can ruin a cloth handbag.

One other thing I do is keep the wallet inside the handbag that they match.
