An ionic handbag might not be the one we use the most (or it might be), but it often evokes smiles and joy that our other handbags do not. The iconic handbag transforms jeans and a t-shirt,yet also fits with our formal attire.

In this pandemic, I've been shopping my handbag closet. For me, the Louis Vuitton speedy handbag is my iconic. First publically introduced by Audrey Hepburn—who also displayed simple, iconic style (ballet flats and black capris!).

The speedy retains its style today. Sizes have increased (from the 25 to the 30 to the 35). The monogram shares space with the damier ebene. I treasure several, but this is the one (roses!) that is making me smile, as I shelter in jeans and ballet flats these days:

For me the iconic bag is the Chanel classic flap.

I have collected them in the 3 neutral shades in large size (jumbo); black, white, beige claire. (caviar leather)

My second iconic bag which was sadly discontinued

in 2015 is the Chanel GST (grand shopping tote).

I think this is the best structured tote they ever put out.  Many are awaiting for a comeback for this bag.

Maybe one day.

They are my forever bags and I treasure them all.

I too have taken them all out during this 9 week lockdown as they make me happy everytime I do.

 Mine was the love affair with Dooney's All Weather leather: this bag got dragged to every regional banking office in Northern California and even went to Guam. It then went to a close family friend. Loved the equestrian feel...

I paired this with a Square Rigger Land's End briefcase which was quite daring for the times since everyone had a hard side Samsonite. 

Also, there was a brand called Canvasback and I used to go the trunk shows in Carmel.  Paired so well with Dooney
