I so agree, @ECBG. I have enough trouble with the permanent straps!

This would work as a tote bag, but not as a purse (IMO). I can see carrying books and papers in it.

I have a similar black canvas TravelSmith bag. It is very sturdy and a favorite.  The straps are sewn on, with enough drop to wear on my shoulder.

 

I mostly use it when I need to carry water and food items.

 A big ole bag! It's great for when you've got to lug a lot of stuff around with you. Let's face it, sometimes we do. And sometimes we don't want to worry 'bout big ole bag. Just wonder about its durability.

I think this bag popped up on my Instagram fee a few times.

 

I think it's cool looking, but I don't really care for north/south bags in the practical sense.
