I have many through the years and still have them. I'm carrying my D & B black satchel right now but prefer crossbody style. Bought crossbody yesterday at Vera Bradley at the mall. Having a 50% off sale. Carry VB black tote in car 🚗 while on little trips or use it as a diaper bag when we have a little one.

@nana59   you could have written my answer word for word...............i now use the fabric crossbody, loved leather hobo's in my younger years....but arthritis and a broken shoulder have ruled me these days.......

Recently bought a shoulder bag (not exactly a hobo), but haven't taken it for a test drive yet.

The Brahmin Mimosa and now the Manhattan are the best. Lightweight, no wallet needed, just enough room to carry what I need and no more. Besides those if I want a “bigger” ( nothing bigger than about 6 x 9) I do a east west with a top zip.

I love the looks of a satchel, but find that a crossbody, followed by a shoulder bag, work best. 

My two favorite bags are from Coach: the Legacy Rambler and their version of a bucket known as the Duffle. (has both shoulder and crossbody functionality.)
