What I discovered about Portland Leather Co

I love the one bag I bought from them. A medium open tote with handles and a long strap. It is well made. Was wanting another bag. In perusing the website I ran into some bad reviews, which then took me down a rabbit hole to trust pilot. Where I found that this company apparently has horrible customer service in every aspect, not giving refunds for defective or returned merchandise, giving ppl a hard time when wrong items were sent, and much more.
Now I'm leery of purchasing anything else from them.
have any of you had a bad experience?

this is one of those companies that relies heavily on facebook paid advertisements. PORTLAND LEATHER GOODS. not that that is bad.....they do have 168000 followers. they also have a large "insiders" group on facebook that is VERY active.

I've been tempted a couple of times to buy from them and every time I backed out after reading the bad reviews. One time I actually purchased a bag and after 5 days it still hadn't shipped so I was able to cancel. I just don't like all the bad reviews.

American Leather Co. is really great.

Their rep when they let her talk is precise and on the ball stays on course. She's a joy !

Bought a few of their bags when they have a triple entry offer.

I've ordered 4 bags from Portland Leather and several accessory pieces. All have been shipped out within a very reasonable time, well packaged and delivered with no problems. The items themselves have been just fine and I have absolutely no complaints. Keep in mind that you are not paying several hundred dollars for all of the nice interior linings and carefully sewn edges. These bags are in the $80 to $100 range - they work well for me. The leather is always soft and pliable and I've never sniffed an obnoxious odor!

My only complaint is the color choices for several of my favorite bags, although lately they have been offering more colors. I've dealt with their customer service one time and they were excellent. Personally, I think they're a great company that offers quality items at very reasonable prices, plus give me reward points with every purchase I make.

I can only speak for myself, but I've been ordering from Portland Leather Goods for a couple of years and at this point have about 8 bags from them. Every one of my bags has been exactly as expected and has held up well. They're all beautiful leather. I'm really surprised to read that there are any bad reviews. As @jannabelle1 said, you're paying for a basic leather bag, unlined, which is fine with me. There are also "seconds" which are available at a reduced price. I wonder if some folks are ordering these and then are not happy with the flaws.

I appreciate the input. Sometimes there is more to the story behind complaints about customer service. When I received my Portland bag I knew it would be unfinished inside. I am ok with that because it's beautiful on the outside. I want the same bag in the yellow color now.
