WHATEVER HAPPENED TO TIGNANELLO HANDBAGS?

If I recall correctly --------

Years ago this was a nice mid-range all-leather handbag line.   Then, they started making bags with various trims that seemed like plastic ... or whatever.   Not a good idea, IMO.

I recall buying one of those handbags and thinking it was a counterfeit bag .... Tignanello would NOT make a bag that wasn't all leather.   I was wrong.  I returned it.

Just curious .... what happened to the company?  Are the bags still being sold anywhere ... besides Ebay?

Tignanello was owned by Bruce Makowsky and his wife, Kathy Van Zeeland. They went out of business. They actually sold the brand to a Chinese company.

I have a nice all leather Tig bag that my sister gave me as a gift. She got it at a local charity "yard sale" for $20.00 with the tags still on it. I think the original price was a $100.00 +.

Me and my sister both use to carry those bags, really nice for the money. Its a shame they are gone.

I recall them going out of business ... around 2015, I think.   Didn't know Bruce owned the company.  At the company's peak, they were very nice bags for the price point.

I didn't know they were married !  I have a couple of Makowsky bags and a couple of KVZ bags and I love them, they were some of my favorite bags. I wondered what happened to those brands. Does anyone know what's the name of the Chinese brand and if sold here at QVC or where else ?

 Li & Fung Limited

ETA-

That's a huge company and they sell a lot of things, not just handbags. I read that they changed the materials used in the Tig bags and made them with vinyl pieces hidden inside.

Re: WHATEVER HAPPENED TO TIGNANELLO HANDBAGS?

I bought one many years ago in a light pink color from e-bags, not from QVC.  It was not inexpensive, about $150.

I had only carried it two times when I noticed a large stain on the leather that I could not remove.  It was a pretty bag, but the leather was inferior.  It is the only bag I have ever owned that got stained. The leather was so porous and not treated correctly. Even water stained the leather.

I never bought another one of that brand.  They were overpriced and made with cheap materials.

I can see why they went out of business.

They were very nice handbags. I used to buy mine at Boscov's.

Re: WHATEVER HAPPENED TO TIGNANELLO HANDBAGS?

Yesterday I was sorting through my purses again and tossed a Tiganello studded bag into the donation pile.  A bit later, I kept thinking about it, and pulled it back out.  It's still current looking and a nice shade of brown for fall.

I do remember growing weary of how often he and his wifewere on though.
