I always use larger Tote bags....try to go smaller....but just need the room. I usually. Spend like $30 or so. They last forever....and hold a lot. I like big bags

My bag size has changed but not due to my age.  It's about lifestyle not age.  I'm 62 and retired.   I also use a cane some of the time.  I do just about all my shopping online so I don't use my big tote bags.  I have satchels that I love and carry but when I use my cane,  use a crossbody.
