You can google this: many brands and stores manufacture merchandise for the sole purpose of selling it in their outlet stores. While some of this merchandise is decent quality, often lower grade textiles-- such as non leather in handbags known for their fine leather-- are used. It has been my experience that not a lot of what you see in outlet stores has spent a day on the racks of the regular price stores. There are exceptions, but mine is an opinion which has been validated in independent research by professional marketing companies. This does not pertain to discount stores such as Marshalls, TJ maxx, etc. because they source their inventory differently than brands and stores, such as Dooney and Nordstrom, stock their outlet stores.
It's not a secret, but it's also not something the retailers allow their salespeople to speak of in the outlet stores. If a customer knows so be it; but if you don't know and ask questions about something, the response will be a babble of confusing words.
