I ordered a tote, from Macy's that was 129 and Black Friday sale 64. Just liked the 'maroon' color and size.
Not my regular Nash bags of 200 and up.
I liked it when I got it, but, there are differences in a
Gianni Bernelli and a Pat Nash bag. Observations include the Macy's one was leather , but, I think Nappa leather is a different leather didn't have a smell like pricey bags do.
The weight was really light compared to Nash's bags one I'm receiving is supposedly going to be 3 lbs. The 'Augusta' satchel. The Macy's one was in ounces. I'm sure when I add all my junk it will be a lb or so.
The hardware is not as high class on the cheaper bags
Inside of the cheap bag was nylon.
of course you don't have the pretty 'tooling' either.
I had been a big Vera Bradley fan had tons of that line, but, I moved up to real quality when I discovered Nash bags.

I totally agree.
I fell in love with the softness of the American Leather Co. purses. I'm usually a Dooney or a Nash lover.
Got a great buy on an American Leather Hobo at Boscovs. By the end of 2 months, the "paint" (not sure what you call it) on the straps cracked and peeled. Yes, the lining was so-so. Anyway, $60.00 is nowhere near Dooney or Nash, but it should have held up more than two months.
Lesson learned.

If one has the money to invest in a higher quality handbag, the value will be there for years. Years ago I used to scoff at women who thought they needed expensive designer bags. Meanwhile I carried $60 purses. They didn't last more than a couple of seasons, showed a lot of wear on the bottom corners, straps peeled, etc. When I took the plunge into better quality (Dooney), the difference amazed me.
I'm not a person who wants or needs designer logos all over my bags. I simply appreciate getting my money's worth for a bag that's well crafted, classy, simple. Made with obviously high grade materials for every detail. That makes me happy.
Today I'm carrying the PN Harper bag in the Rainforest print. Love it so much.

I remember yrs. back I had a Tiganello (sp)? **** thing didn't have studs on bottom that I'm used too now and every time I put it up on a counter it fell down like a snowman in Tx. Just slouch in and pull together I had to get both elbows in the blasted thing to get my billfold out to show ID, etc.
That got old fast , drop off at the 'pink' box it went.
Not a problem with Nash bags.

I love Nash and Dooney bags and I have a couple of Coach bags that I really like and I have had some of my Dooney and Coach bags for years. Just got into the Nash bags and I love them.

In the early 1990's I asked a woman in the handbag department at a large department store to tell me why I should pay so much for a Dooney bag. She went through all the features of the bag that made it more expensive: the quality of the leather, the type of tanning and dying of the leather so that it was throughout the leather and not just a coating, hand stitching that was uniform and secure, the quality of the hardware, the durability and quality of the zippers on the bags and so on. I think those are still some of the reasons some bags are more expensive. My expensive bags (old Dooney, LV's and early Brahmin bags) have all held up well for many years while cheaper bags lose their looks, stitching and functioning much sooner.

I am a Dooney, Coach, Patricia Nash handbag lady. I also buy inexpensive brands, knowing they will not last too long!

I usually buy Hobo Intl, Frye and Brighton bags. Brighton is getting up there in price so I've scaled back. I also have a couple of old Brahmins I like from back when the did classic bags and had new styles and not the same bag in 47 differed colors and odd color combinations. Not a fan of them any more.

I got to have room in mine, ROOM ! LOL Only one I bought of Nash's that wasn't roomy and I knew it going in and didn't care was the Ninetto not spelled right, but. will correct here in a minute. I saw that in 'oxblood' and it was all over. I just take it to like church and this one woman's Dad was a leather worker and she spyed that in a New York minute and teared up and said that reminds me so much of the kind of work my Dad did back yrs. ago.
Bless her heart. She took the bag and patted it and ran her hand over the tooled leather, braided handles, etc. she didn't want to hand it back. I was glad I made her happy for a few minutes. She grew up with quality and knew what she was looking at. It's my favorite. Boy, if PN made that in a tote of 15 inchs wide I'be be there. LOL
