I was just watching Patricia Nash on HSN and the host showed a Python-like handbag. She said it felt like real Python and Patricia explained how they embossed it. Then the host says, oh yes, it felt so real and HSN doesn't do anything like that with REAL animals. (and she is holding a leather bag) Are cows not real anymore.

I'm not trying to defend anyone; however, cows are not 'harvested' (nice euphemism) for their skins. Maybe because cows are food sources, their hides are considered by-products. Just a thought as a possible explanation.

Vietnam's Crocodile (and snake) Skin Trade....can be researched and watched. I doubt you would ever admire/desire an animal's skin after watching. The HSN host was probably aware and stressing that this Patricia Nash was a "faux" skin.

@luvmybeetle Thank you for your astute observation. Farm factory animals experience horrific lives....no matter what the "product".
