I don't care either way, I don't like my phone in an outside pocket, I have the fear of it falling out....that's just me.  If I have outside pockets I only put tissues or mints in them.

I don't have to have a large zippered pouch for my phone but I need one large enough for my keys!  One thing I can't stand is to constantly be searching for keys when I am out doing errands and shopping! As for my phone, I have a little drawstring bag that I place it in and I can find it easily inside my purse.

I never cared before when I bought a purse but now that I am older I am very picky about having this outside pouch and other features that I never cared about before.

I bought these to hook on any bag where I want extra space. They are tiny-won't hold a phone-but are perfect for keys and a credit card or other small items. You could also attach to your jeans waist band. I love these and recommend them.

Re: NO OUTSIDE POUCH?

Yes I always need an outside pocket for my phone!  It is a must since I hate fishing around for the phone.

I did recently get a Patricia Nash bag that does have an outside slip pocket but I agree that most Dooneys I have seen never seem to have them.

I always look for an outside pouch...even two zippered or not for my phone and tissues. I notice the Nash and D&B bags rarely have a phone pouch on the outside of the bag.

Is that a necessity for you?

Yes, absolutely!
