It seems like Michael Kors has done a very successful job of targeting the right clientele.  Today I spent a few hours in a huge mall in PA, the King of Prussia mall.  Sometimes I just sat and observed the people walking through the mall.  I observed what handbags women were carrying.  I would say Michael Kors had a bigger percentage of the market than any other brands.  Michael Kors does have a store in the mall. There were very few Dooneys.  I saw more Louis Vuitton than Dooneys.  I spotted a few Patricia Nash and Lug and Burberry  too.  I  do not own a Michael Kors bag, but they certainly seem to be popular.

I think they are more reasonably priced than some of the aforementioned in your viewing and posting  and I also think the price has gone down considerably over the years.  I have about a dozen of his bags and they were once more expensive than now.  They do hold up well.  I, however, like a Dooney better and Ido have several Dooney's and Brhamins.

Kors has a very nice line of "mall" bags as well as some much more expensive ones.  I know around me you can often find lots of his bags in good sizes, materials, and colors.  I have more of his bags than I do his clothes!

I see a lot of teenagers carrying his bags.

His stuff does not interest me, but it certainly does seem to be very popular.

I just reviewed his spring collection.  Cheapest bag was a Raffia at $495.  The rest are all between $1,000-2,000+, and there are real croc bags for over $10,000.  Nothing special about any of them regarding interiors.  Mostly black holes.

And teenagers are carrying them at the malls?  Wow, now I don't feel so bad after buying my last D&B at $200.

Like many bag lines these days, Kors pretty clearly offers different levels of bag, some, it seems, designed especially for outlet and discount. He's always made a nice bag, but he's also really flooded the market. You see his bags coming and going. The difference, though, is that he still continues to make some beautiful, quality bags, and even his 'mark down' bags are pretty nice. His more upscale line continues to include some bags with a significant 'wow' factor.

As for Dooney, I just personally think they've grown stale and many of their bags seem to offer limited functionality. I'm no longer even remotely the fan I once was. There big draw these days seems to be color, color, color and for me, that isn't much of a draw.

I have MK soft leather  large navy  hobo bag I got it on sale at Macy for less than the retail price for over $378.00. Michael kors name is 21/4 inches wide and the letters  are about 1/4 or less in length. In other words you have to get up  real close to see the name. I never purchase leather bags where the designer name is visibly seen.

I have three of the fabric logo bags with leather trim purchased from Marshall's or Tj Maxx. Oldest is probably three years and looks like new! Excellent quality and more interior pockets than the Dooney's I have had . My experience with the brand has been nothing but positive!
