All things being equal, if we all had the same elementary school teacher...this would be a mute point.

It is probably a regional pronunciation. In western PA, we say dandylion. I have never heard it pronounced any other way around here.

It may be a mispronunciation to you, but to those who pronounce it "dandeylion", it's what they grew up with. We all have regional differences in phrases, terms and pronunciation, and you'll never convince someone that her pronunciation is wrong - that person would say the same thing to you! I was raised in the upper midwest where a soft drink was "pop". I moved to St. Louis where it's "soda", but in southern Missouri it's "sodie". No big deal - sort of fun to hear how different parts of the country pronounce and use words.
