In need of light handbag - not expensive - suggestions, please!

[ Edited ]

Maybe there is already a topic here but I didn't see it!

I have issues with handbags.  I have gotten rid of just about all of my bags.  They are too large and heavy!

I like a bag that I can put over my shoulder so that when I shop my hands are free.  So many bags are made of heavy leather and other materials and by the time you put things in that you need they just weigh too heavily on my shoulders and back and I just can't take it!

Also I don't like a really large bag or a tiny bag -- somewhere in between.  When DH and I go out, I often need to put a lot of his items in my bag such as his diabetic items, glasses, pills, etc.

I have a couple of older, shopper style ones which have very soft double handles that I love and work well for me but they are getting worn and I need something to replace them.

I don't want to spend hundreds of dollars either.

Does anyone have any suggestions for a particular bag or brand or where to get something which might fit my needs?

I have tried a backpack type thing but I don't like those things or how they look and feel.

Thanks so much!

Spoiler
I suggest you look at Lug bags.  They have lots of choices and are very light.

Not sure why spoiler message appeared.  Try Lug bags.  Many choices & light weight too.

i second the kipling!  i have two kipling satchels and they can be carried over your arm, on the shoulder or crossbody.  they are kind of like clown cars because you can carry them mostly empty, or you can load them up.  love them.

Here’s another vote for TJMaxx. They have a great selection of handbags at great prices (I bought an American Leather Company satchel there for $50. Their bags usually sell for $200 or more). Now that Spring’s almost here (🤞🏻), they’ll have a variety of fabric bags in addition to leather and faux leather.
