While, I'm sure they're exquisitely made, I suspect name recognition and supply and demand is a huge part of it.

I love designer bags and have quite an educated eye until last year in  Siem Reap (Cambodia) acrosss the Hyatt Hotel there was the most amazing shop ever. They had all the Hermes, Guccis, Pradas

LV, Chanel, Diors...handbags and accessories so well made that I could not tell the difference. They were not cheap but way less expensive than the ones in US stores. Needless  to say  that I have quite a collection. I also spent four days touring Angkor Wat to compensate🌻

Some people will pay an obscene amount of money for perceived status. But l'm not one of them, lol.
