So sorry to see that.  we have kitties too, so I know what they can do.  I wonder if there is some kind of purse/ leather cleaner to smooth out the scratch marks?

@TerryNJ   I'm familiar with that situation.  My sister and I often shop over the phone during certain QVC programs.  She lives in suburban Philly.  We exchange item numbers a lot.
