Dooney Quality.....a question

I have purchased two Dooney and Bourke handbags in the last several weeks....both from QVC. While I like them and will keep them, I am finding the quality is just not there anymore compared with my Dooney bags of the past. (I realize one could probably say this about anything.)

Is it just me or does anyone else feel the same way? The bags are lovely but the difference, for me, is really showing in overall quality. These bags are very expensive and I am thinking I will stop ordering, for now.

How do you feel about them.....I am very curious.

@Regal Bee   I haven't bought one recently, but in what way do you find the quality lacking?  I did buy a zip zip bag from the Dooney website a couple months ago and it was the same as the ones I've had for several years

Re: Dooney Quality.....a question

Look inside to see where it's made.  That might be a clue.

From what I could find out dated March 2020:

"Dooney and Bourke bags and accessories were made in Italy until the mid-1990s when they moved to the United States. Many of the bags sold on television through companies such as QVC and HSN are made in China."

@Regal Bee  I too am wondering what specific quality issues you're finding. I haven't obained a Dooney bag in years. For the most part, I grew a bit weary of the brand, though it is a nicer brand, the prices kept escalating, and I felt I'd already accumulated too many, so I have no basis for comparison.

Re: Dooney Quality.....a question

Ladies....thanks for your replies.

The first difference I have noticed is the inside pocket. (I don't care for exterior pockets) When I place my cell in it and my sunglasses, it sags outward into the interior of the bag. All my other Dooneys have much more structured pockets and I've never had this problem before.

Perhaps, it is just me. But, there is a difference and I think the answer is to stop purchasing for now. I have enough anyway...........too many, actually. Smiley Tongue

Thanks again.......................................

Re: Dooney Quality.....a question

I've gotten a few new D&B bags recently, and the quality is the same as before...whether I get the bag from QVC, Ilovedooney, or the D&B website.

My issue is that they are getting heavy for ME to carry.  I use a large leather wallet that I love.  So with the leather wallet, the leather D&B, and all of my other stuff, the bag is HEAVY.

Re: Dooney Quality.....a question

I noticed that too, on one of my bags.  The inside pockets don't have the lealther trim, just fabric, and the fabric falls away from the sides of the bag into the middle.

The bag I have that does this is a small cross body.  I've not noticed this in any of my other bags.  And yes, it is annoying especially in small bag that doesn't have that much room to begin with.

Re: Dooney Quality.....a question

From the time they started in QVC, Dooney has offered items exclusive to QVC and items it sells in other places.  I know because I bought one of the first items they sold, a QVC exclusive Dooney logo fabric tote.  I have also bought some leather bags that can be found elsewhere.  The quality of the QVC exclusives is not as good.

Re: Dooney Quality.....a question

There are better quality consignment stores that will not accept db handbags from qvc. That says something right there. I agree about inner pockets that are not reinforced and drop to the center. Those are not helpful whatsoever.

Re: Dooney Quality.....a question

My last Dooney was not purchased from QVC.  The zipper broke on it when it was barely out of warranty.  I contacted Dooney with pics.  They told me I would have to send my purse in and they would repair it with a charge of up to $100 or, if it would cost more than $100, they would give me a $100 discount on another purse.  With shipping and repair costs I thought it best to replace the purse, but not with a Dooney.  I have not purchased a Dooney since.
