Crossbody, Shoulder or Clutch ?

How do you prefer to carry your handbag?  For me it's either crossbody (which I prefer, I don't carry large bags very often anymore) or shoulder if I do carry a larger bag for some special reason.  I don't carry a clutch bag for the simple reason that someone can grab it from me and be gone so fast !  When I see vendors showing their crossbodies and then remove the strap and show carrying the bag under their arm I just cringe because I feel you are putting the safety of your bag at risk.  Don't make it easy for the crooks.  JMO. Re: Crossbody, Shoulder or Clutch ?

i like to use a clutch when i am going out to dinner or a show. bonus points if it has a chain or removeable strap for use at other times.

i have MANY crossbody bags, shoulder bags, tote bags and use them daily.

Re: Crossbody, Shoulder or Clutch ?

Always a crossbody...

If the bag doesn't have a crossbody strap I won't buy it. Of coarse I have several bags that also have handles and a shoulder strap (or convert to one) which I will use.

However, I won't use a bag that is a clutch or use a bag as a clutch. I'm OCD with the fear of losing it or leaving it somewhere.

Re: Crossbody, Shoulder or Clutch ?

I have used crossbodies for years and love them. I love being hands-free.

I can't imagine going back to satchels or shoulder bags. I donated mine to a women's shelter.

My favorite is Brahmin. They aren't as heavy as so many other brands, ie: Dooney. My main winter bag is 13 years old and looks like new.

Re: Crossbody, Shoulder or Clutch ?

I have been carry nothing but crossbody's or backpack styles since my 20's.  With two little ones back then it was always the smartest option to wear and be hands free.  I could never just carry a bag by the handle or wear it on my shoulder for my own comfort, security and health reasons.

For example, my SIL was a mail carrier for many years and had a walking route.  She had years of shoulder problems due to carrying the weight of that bag and just had a total shoulder replacement.   I realize a bag of mail is much heavier but still, too much stress on the shoulder regardless.

Shoulder for me, if I have a clutch I'm at a loss as to what to do with it when we are seated.  How do you solve this quandary?

Re: Crossbody, Shoulder or Clutch ?

Shoulder here. Crossbodies always look strange on me, I'm flat-chested and they seem to "travel" too much. A definite deal-breaker is the bag that has both the shoulder strap and an arm strap; those look weird to me and even on presentations, the models/presenters are always trying to hide the strap they're not using. I only use clutches for nights out, which are few and far between. I never know where to put it when I'm seated.
