Big tote or small bag for my cruise?

I probably asked this a while back but don't remember. Sorry if I'm being repetitive. Should I take a large tote bag or what? We have a couple of shore excursions planned-trolly/walking tours. How about on the ship? Will I need a lanyard for my ship pass? Or something like a phone crossbody? I can't wait til I'm an experienced cruiser and can stop asking these stupid questions 🤓

Yes! Both. A tote for those excursions, or maybe for the pool area. A small crossbody to carry around the ship, just big enough for bare essentials--the card you use as your room key and onboard room charges, your lip balm, a Kleenex, etc.

You could tuck the "small bag" inside the tote....and have both available

I agree that you should get both. I recommend a small crossbody with RFID card slots for use on the ship. If you're going to take this onshore on your excursions, I'd get a Travelon one with a reinforced strap and sides (slash & grab prevention). Regarding the tote, get one that's lightweight and big enough to hold the stuff you'll bring with you, as well as anything you might buy onshore. Bon voyage!

When we cruise, we do wear lanyards to hold our room key and photo id.  You will need both items if you take excursions. The crew usually scans your room key when you leave and checks both as you return. On the ship, I use a wristlet, big enough to hold my phone and meds, etc. I usually take a larger tote to use as a beach bag or if I think I'll be shopping. So....whoever said to take both, was right on target!  Enjoy your trip.

Try to bring a water repellant or water proof tote. It rains all the time if you'll be in the sub tropics.

I would take a tote & a crossbody with a removable strap that can be used as a clutch.  It would not be an either or situation.  One can fit in the other.

@smoochy Whichever you decide to take, I would highly suggest that it has a zipper closure!!!

Safety first!

You need BOTH! A lightweight tote with a zipper is needed for excursions and something smaller (removeable over the shoulder strap/clutch) for on-board strolls, meals, shows, etc.

My favorite totes to take on a cruise has always been Vera Bradley because they're lightweight, have zippers, comfortable shoulder straps, and a multitude of pockets.

Have fun! Hope you love cruising as much as I always did!!
