One of the pairs I discarded were black satin after 5 shoes that I wore to my eldest niece's wedding in 2009.  Cute kitten heel slingback pump with a small rhinestone accent.  That elastic was stiff as a board on the strap.

No shoes for me today... In fact, if I buy anything at all today it'll be groceries... Hardly a thrill...

I have got to go fix something to eat... My midnight snack seems a long time ago !!

This isn't me justifying my shoe ho-ishness at all.  

My Ma had an old saying about shoes.  Not sure if this is it exactly:

Never let a man buy you a pair of shoes.  If you do, he'll dictate how you walk through this life.  

I put my own twist on it years ago.  I usually start the New Year off buying a new pair of shoes.  They don't have to be expensive.  I prefer to go with something other than a slipper.

It's sort of my way of starting on a new path for the new year.
