Re: Anucshka bags. Tacky or cool for the summer?

The thing about Anuschka handbags and accessories are that they are all hand-painted artworks that you carry. Like all art,  each person likes or dislikes a piece of art based on their own aesthetic.  Many people do not like even the great masters when it comes to art,  It does not suit their sensibilities.  Art is extremely personal and  elicits feelings and thoughts.

I have one Anuschka bag and wallet. It is an abstract design. I adore it!  This bag and wallet have received more compliments than all of the other bags I carry.   It is unique and suits my personality and contemporary aesthetic.

The wonderful thing about Anuschka is quality and workmanship. The bags and wallets are well-designed and use scrumptious leather.  I often put my Anuschka wallet in my one-color, serious, expensive business handbags and totes.  This juxtaposition between the structured all taupe or black leather bag and the soft buttery Anuschka leather wallet with he abstract design gives me a moment of pause and brings joy to my hectic life.

I would suggest if you are at all curious about Anuschka, try a wallet with an art design that speaks to you. You may be surprisedSmiley Happy

I totally agree with you! I started with a wallet and then purchased a handbag a few years ago.  When I carry it, I get many compliments where people stop me to ask about it .  They don't do that when I carry my Coach bags.  When I do carry it, it tends to make me happy.  I like that it is hand made and everyone is different.

Re: Anucshka bags. Tacky or cool for the summer?

I've always loved and appreciated most of the artwork on these bags. What has stopped me from buying one has been the quality of the leather the artwork is on.  The leather has never impressed me as being good enough for the artwork.  In other words, a higher quality leather would be welcome IMHO.... and that is absolutely the reason why I've not bought one even though I've admired them....

i have found the quality of leather to be as good or better than Michael Kors, Rebecca  Minkoff or Coach. For quite some time, I did not realize Anuschka has two weights of leather. One is thicker and heavier and naturally a bit more expensive. The heavier weight leather is supple and has a wonderful real leather smell.  They also have an equally beautiful lighter weight leather for those that prefer a less weighty handbags.

@Q4u you may be interested in the rich thick leather version. It looks and feels primo.

Both the leathers take the hand painted art beautifully.  The wallet I have is in the thick heavy, yet supple leather--gorgeous. My handbag is in the less weighty version, equally  lovely.  Because I need a relatively lighter bag for carrying all my stuff.  I am glad they have a lighter leather bag version. In a medium/large bag that I Can not catty a heavy bag like Dooney or the thicker Anuschka leather because it hurts my damaged shoulder. Yet, the lighter weight Anuschka leather allows me to have & enjoy the unique hand painted handbag.

How fortunate we are to be able to try different handbags that fit our individual lifestyle, personality and wardrobes.

@WhiteFlowers I love your thoughtful posts...Heart...I'm sad you have an injured shoulder and I hope it can get better with time. The beautiful Anuschka sunflowers bag and wallet I purchased for my aunt for her birthday last year were in the thick, wonderful leather and she loved them. Warm wishes for your weekend, EEL Woman Happy

Re: Anucshka bags. Tacky or cool for the summer?

I personally think they are very tacky...not my taste.  That being said, if you like the look and it is your taste, what I or anyone else thinks shouldn't matter in the least. If we all liked the same things what a boring world this would be!!

Re: Anucshka bags. Tacky or cool for the summer?

I don't care for Anucshka bags at all. I haven't found one that I have liked. Too busy for me, I like a more classic type of look but that is why they make so many brands, to appeal to everyones taste. If you like it, go for it!!!

Re: Anucshka bags. Tacky or cool for the summer?

All the input was interesting and thought I would post a review as I did order it and just received the bag.

Firstly, it is the perfect functional style and a little smaller than pictured which I was glad of. Love the drawstring, outside zipper pocket and cellphone slot. I have finally learned not to purchase any bags without an outside pocket of some sort as I just keep using those that do have one.

The painting is so pretty and a little more muted than the picture. I have to be honest and say my first opinion of the bag was hmmmm, this is so not me but my love of the beach, the softeness of the leather and again, te functionality told me it is a keeper as so unique.

It will be a short season here in the Northeast to carry it but I know each summer I will look forward to getting out my "beach bag" and my dream is to move somewhere when I retire in a few years where I can carry it year round!

@Theresa1121I'm so happy you are loving your bag.  I ordered the wallet in Sweet Dreams and it is absolutely gorgeous!! The leather is soft and I just love the design & workmanship.  I wouldn't mind getting the matching purse now
