Aimee K. bag - so surprised!!!

i bought the Artisan A665082, used for about 6 weeks and the strap broke!!

the grommet holding the strap to the "O" ring literally snapped in two.  i cannot fix it.  

Yes, the bag was heavy, but come on.  i carry the same things in my daily bag and have NEVER have this happen. ever!  

 

needless to say i was shocked and so disappointed b/c i love the bag!  i bought another color and now i am hesitant to use and might just return it.  

 

i did email AK yesterday and i will wait to see if they stand by their product.  Frankly, they should fix it w/o a fee.  i literally just bought in April 2024.  its not 10 years old with excessive use.  

 

what are your thoughts?  return both?  try to fix through AK???? fix myself???  UGH, so disappointed!!!  i did buy both thru Q, so i hope they stand by their products!!??

 

anyone else have issues with her bags???

Wow, I own several of her bags and have not had a problem.  Maybe it was a defective O ring?  Yikes.......I certainly hope her company gets back to you but if you've had it less than 30 days maybe you should contact QVC customer service and let them know what happened and you can make an even exchange??   Sorry, I know these things can be so frustrating, especially spending $$$ on a high end bag!  Best of luck.

I have never had a problem with Aimee Kestenberg handbags. If this happened to me I would have contacted QVC about an exchange. Especially since you bought it in April, and this is May. 

 

Let us know what the response from Aimee is.

good to know u have not had any issues!!

 

i was completely shocked by what happened!  never thought in a million years her bag would break, with being an engineer prior to fashion.  

 

it was not the "O" ring, it was the grommet, attached to the piece of leather, which was wrapped around the "O" ring.  the grommet holding the leather snapped.  

 

hindsight, one grommet is not enough. it is extremely short in length and diameter.  she needed to use a heavy duty grommet, which this obviously was not.  or at the very least, 2 grommets or a different system altogether. 

 

i checked my othe AK bags for this construction and have not found any.  

 

good idea to calll Q....

@hkrgrl.  Amy Kestenberg's bags are my favorites, and I've never had a problem with the ones I've had. 

 

QVC has a 30 day return policy so doubt you'll get help there.  Have no idea what Amy will do.  Often handbags are manufactured overseas which makes repairs impossible.  Have you asked about a repair at a shoe repair shop?

What I was gonna say. Younger folks don't know about what we used to call "shoe cobblers". They stretch shoes, fix heels, have heavy leather repair machines

that can thread thru just about anything.

 

I've seen saddles in there, horse related materials, handbags, etc.

Some dry cleaners also offer shoe and purse repairs.

Those are excellent points.  Any shop that works with leather can replace the grommets on the bag.   Most likely not all that pricey and would be well worth it.

this just happened on Friday.... so i have not contacted a shoe repair, although that was my first thought!  

i am so hesitant to get a replacement, since this happened so quickly.  but i bought the same bag in a different color to use in the Fall.  i really love it, all the outside pockets are perfect depth, nothing falls out and i actually love not having a zippered bag. so  much easier to get into when on my shoulder.  

 

i am going to call Q and see what they will do... if i have to, i will return both and just look for another style to suit my daily needs.  

 

but, i will look into a shoe repair and maybe have them rework both bags.

I bought a beautiful beaded bag from Antik Boutique from Anthropologie. It's a beaded sack, and the rings have become detached from the bag twice now. Believe it or not, I had to take it to a jeweler to get it restrung.

 

The first time I contacted Anthropologie they asked me the amount to repair and issued me a gift cert in that amount. The second time, they refunded the cost of the bag. It's quite beautiful, but I have to be careful. I am pleased with how Anthro handled the situation. I hope for the same for you , @hkrgrl
