? About Cleaning/Washing Sak Crocheted Bag

[ Edited ]

I checked the Sak website, and they say to spot clean.  I've had mine about 7 years, and it needs to be cleaned and I'm tempted to put it in the wash on the delicate cycle.  Has anyone tried this or have any suggestions for cleaning a crocheted Sak bag?

Thanks!

I'd put it in a delicate bag and set the washer to delicate, then layout flat to air dry.

I think they are telling you to spot clean because they think the fabric will shrink up. I would take a chance and wash it in cold water and Woolite and lay flat to dry.

I have two or three from when they were first featured on QVC.  I have washed the natural color bag at least 2 times and it looks like new.  I don't use these bags too often now, but I still like them.

Thank you @Daysdee@blackhole99, and @GCR18!  I decided to put prewash on the bottom of the bag and I am going to put it in the washing machine in a few minutes.

It's at the point where I won't use it unless I can clean it so no harm done either way!

Thank you for your advice, it is greatly appreciated.

Update:  It came out of the wash looking like new!  Hopefully when it dries it doesn't do anything weird, like shrink.

You might stuff it to dry it or pin it to a mattress after blocking it into shape to dry.

I wouldn't put it in the washer, I'd hand wash it.

@jaxs momToo late!  I have high hopes that it dries back into its original shape.

I will post the results after it dries.
