I had a bag similar to that, and with the same closure in the 70s.
Enjoy.

Now THIS is a PN bag I like!

When I was a teenager in Worcester Massachusetts, there was a place called The Tandy Leather Company. I used to buy kits to make handbags like this. They were fun to do, you got the raw leather, already cut but you stained and assembled the bag.
I would save to purchase those kits.
Of course we also had a leather factory in Worcester that sold bags in the factory store. The store was in a brick building walk-up. They had tables full of bags. I miss those days. We also used to go to a factory coat store, again in a brick building walk-up. They had beautiful winter jackets up there.
I believe that Tandy Leather still exists.
