@northiie57 Do you start them from seeds or root a plant?🪴

I need more basil as my basil and other herbs form summer peetered out a few months ago.

I've always had better luck with them outside than when I bring herbs indoors. (I'm in the Northeast, CT.) They've often either gotten the powdery mildew indoors, or little mites. But I'm always trying, because I like having fresh herbs on hand. They are so expensive and wasteful to buy, pre-cut, in the grocery, as they never last long enough for me to use up.

I buy a live plant from the produce section that
they have in little pots....I get them out the dirt and rinse off into water...easy peasy Smiley Happy   Use tepid water that has sat out overnight if you use tap water....no super cold water

Wait. Are you saying if I take herbs OUT of the dirt and instead put them in a glass of water they will grow? Or last longer in water than if in dirt?

I wish the OP would return and answer our questions - I'm curious about that too.

@Sakuya, IDK what the OP will say, but I've found that fresh herbs keep longer in general if they're placed in a glass of water in the fridge. I also loosely put a thin produce bag on top.

Muddling through...
