We feed year-round and just put out the heated bird bath last week!  Love the birds!  We also feed the squirrels and chipmunks.

We feed birds all year long. Many of the summer birds return w/their babies. We especially enjoy the Hummers.

@Group 5 minus 1   Here too - feed all year. Our hummers don't return until April/May. e have the same ones back each year. We plant annuals just for the hummers too.

Yes, they all get fed daily-birds and critters. We buy whole grain bread for them as well as about 500# of wild, area specific bird seed, and goodies (baked goods, fruit, veggies, etc)! We keep heated water bowls on the covered patio for water and have 2 warmed mats that food bowls sit on.

Hello Bird feeders!  I wish I could feed them all the time but other critters are a problem.  Still, it makes me sad when I know a snowstorm  or cold rain is coming.  Would it be bad for the birdies if I put out some suet a day or two before in the hopes that they get a few calories to help them through or would that just get their little birdie hopes up for a dependable source that I can't deliver?

Any thoughts.

For those of you who Can feed our feathered friends, Bless you.

Yes, we will and can't wait to see who comes back!🦉🐧🌳🐦

Usually have 8 pairs of cardinals, a few blue jays, tufted titmouse, finches, three types of woodpeckers and many others.

I sit and watch a lot.  I put feeders out windows were I can see from my exercise bike and reading chair!  I have books on birds from the 40's.  My grandmother's!📚❤️

@PINKdogWOOD We also write in our weather diary when the Hummers return and also when we no longer see them. And we love it when when those summer birds bring their young and show them the feeders.

Re: feeding birds

[ Edited ]

We feed the birds all year. We also feed the squirrels, rabbit and whoever comes by the feeders.

But am so tired when the starlings come. They empty out the feeder and chase all the other birds away. There are so many starling that the other birds don't stand a chance.

In fact we went to the Feed Store on Friday. My husband wanted to try different "flavors" of suet. It seems like the birds aren't going through the peanut suet as fast as they used to. So we are trying different flavors and see which flavor is the best seller.

No matter the time of day there always seems to be birds on the feeders.

PS My husband has been feeding the squirrels Oatmeal Raisin cookies. He said they are loving them. They barely hit the ground and the squirrels are eating them.
