@AuntGA weed can be beautiful. A weed is just a plant growing where you don't want it to grow.
Weeds eventually become big tall trees. I should know (my neighbor has plenty) that he never tended to and now I must have the come back because they overhand my property and grow like the dickens.

It's a fothergilla & it has white bottlebrush blooms right now. Then the leaves come out -- very nice shaped leaves which in the fall turn yellow, orange & red colors before falling off. It's called a 3 season plant because of its changes through 3 seasons. It's in the witch hazel family.
'Mt. Airy' is a larger cultivar than 'Beaver Creek' dwarf fothergilla.
It's an underused landscape shrub which is disease and insect pest free too.

A weed is only a plant you find undesirable in a particular location 🌵🌿🌱🌴☘️🍀🍃🍂🪴

I have Fothergilla. Mine took about five years to have a real presence in the garden and it was worth the wait. The fall colours on this shrub are spectacular...burnt fiery orange. Love! S
