Vinca grows well in pots but it likes sun.

@DiAnne, yes it will. It mounds like impatiens do also. Only it's in full sun.

It is one of the last annuals for large nurseries to put out. If you see lantana and portulaca put out then chances are the vinca is there too.

Thanks for the info. I just googled it - I did not realize Dipladenia is related to Mandevilla. I have used Mandevilla vines the last couple of years as hanging baskets - no wonder I was drawn to it.

I love to explore independent nurseries so I will keep my eye out for the Dipladenia and meanwhile I will put my vinca in a pot and hope my bunnies don't eat it!

I have replaced my use of impatiens with wax leaf begonias for the time being.

My vinca always does well and blooms until the frost kills it but it gets a lot of sun. I find the plants are slow starters but once they start growing they spread quickly. They were available at our nurseries in April and now difficult to find. I'm in NY state just north of NYC.
