Well, Hello! First Bloom of the New Year!

[ Edited ]

The snow has begun to melt here in SE Pennsylvania. I'm sure we will get more before this winter is over, but the Winter Aconites are rarin' to go! Here's a cheerful fellow by my front door:

Are you seeing any first blooms?

@PA Mom-mom This is a pretty prelude to spring!  Do you have any crocus?

I can't wait to see this in my yard. Two weeks ago we had roses blooming among other things then Texas got the cold snap and everything is dead. Not sure any of it will survive.

We have so much snow on the ground in the northern burbs of Chicago I don't think we'll see grass or blooms until MAY!!!!!!

@Boomernichols Still about 8 inches of snow over the area where our crocus grow. I see some snowdrops coming up underneath our cut leaf Japanese Maple. The snow is just starting to melt.

@PA Mom-mom I only asked because the crocus are the first sightings here in north Mississippi.  Your description of your landscape sounds lovely!

@Lali1  I know what you are saying. My SIL in Dallas sent beautiful pics of her daffys just before the cold and snow hit. They are gone. They were lucky to get off without much damage.

@Boomernichols  For us, the earliest blooms are the Aconites. They often start blooming by the end of January. This year, however, we have had a snow cover since the middle of January.

Us as well. We have one spot on the ceiling that is water damaged. My husband caught all the breaks quickly. Luckily the pipe broke right above our bathtub.

@PA Mom-mom

I hadn't heard of snowdrops before. I just googled them and this is my mission for this weekend.  What a fun little flower!
