I know they are common, but we have never had one at our feeder. They are beautiful. And, next to the cardinals they really make a pretty picture! I couldn't get a pic in time before he flew off, but here's an internet pic.

I don't think they're terribly common.  What a sight!

Remember that insects feed birds.  Without one there is no other.  Providing (or keeping) habitat is so important, especially with indigenous species.

I had the privilege of sighting a couple of bluebirds the other day.

@PA Mom-mom , aren’t they lovely?  We get them from time to time.  Not common here.  We are at the northern extent of their range.  I didn’t know what is was until I did some research.  They usually get come around a storm and are just passing through.  LM

I get excited anytime I catch a glimpse of a Western bluebird here in my part of California (but never in my backyard).
