Silhouette of a sailboat
Murals
We took a walk along the waterfront in Halifax (Nova Scotia) yesterday. The city has done a great job restoring the waterfront. You can walk for miles along the boardwalk amd browse small shops, kids can play in playground areas, you can rent bikes, take a cruise, have a snack. The cruise ships love it and I can see why.
You can walk down the steps to the water here.
Pier 21 where immigrants entered.

@Lilysmom1, Looks like an amazing place - certainly the type of place DH and I would love to visit. Thank you for sharing.

I'm intrigued by the silhouette of a sailboat, but that's a lot of metal in an area with salty air. It'll be interesting to see how long it lasts there. It's very impressive though. Given the cost of rust-proof metal, I would assume it was made of steel, and steel and salt air don't mix all that well over the long term. It's neat to look at for now though.

@Lilysmom1 Are all cruise ships still greeted with bagpipe music? I always bring Scottish oatcakes home from NS.

I think we need to visit Halifax.

What a beautiful improvement! It's been years since we were there. So much to see and do; such a wise investment. Great for touristism, as well as community interest.

The silhouette of the sailboat reminded me of a similarly constructed silhouette in downtown Naples, FL. It was suspended from the highest point in the ceiling of a Catholic Church: it was the Corpus without the cross.
It was mesmerizing.

@gardenman , now you have me curious. I think I will look for provenance on the structure. I will update you. LM
PS, @gardenman @the artist is Edoardo Tresoldi (Italian) and his work is all galvanized metal. Many of the waterfront art pieces are donated by local businesses. I couldn't imagine that these pieces could be anything but in our marine environment.

We did a neighbourhood beautification project with a large metal lighthouse (25'tall) replica of Leggy's Cove lighthouse and had that galvanized. It is located near the beginning of the highway to Peggy's Cove. This is a winter scene of the lighthouse. This artist also has pieces on the waterfront. LM

Yes, @PickyPicky3 @I believe they are. Your will find bagpipers at strategic locations throughout the tourism season in Nova Scotia, especially Cape Breton. Located at many entry points to the Province whether you arrive by land or sea or air. LM

@BirkiLady Halifax has gone through significant change in the last ten years. We walked over an hour and got to see just a small portion of the waterfront. It is nice to be a tourist in your own city. We did a hike into a local lake yesterday and went to Peggy's Cove yesterday (only 1/2 hour from where I live). LM
