Home Depot has some bags which you hang, not sure what they collect--wasps, hornets, yellow jackets.  My friend had an outside party and hung the bag nearby, and the stinging insects were piling up in it during the party.

 

They also make a very effective one for flies, but it smells pretty bad.

Is this similar to the recipe you use for your spray?

 

Mix 1 cup unscented baby shampoo and 10 drops ofpeppermint essential oil. Fill a spray bottle with the mixture and spray on areas and surfaces where you wish to repel bees and wasps

 

or this?

 

A Wasp Repelling Essential Oil Blend.

. . . a blend of lemongrass, clove and geranium essential oils managed to completely repel worker wasps. You might try applying a mix of several drops of each of the oils in a spray bottle filled with water, and a few squirts of dish soap.
