Tons of Moths in our Yard this Year

For some reason our yard is being taken over by moths, in the air and in the lawn. Some are white, beige or brown. What could be the reason for this invasion. How do I get rid of them. It's getting really annoying.

Could they be cutworm moths?

Do they flit around crazily?

I happened to stop at Extension Office on unrelated matter and asked about the moths flying about-- I was told it could also be sod webworm.
