@Lilysmom wrote:@JustJazzmom, et al, what do you think about railings? I am not inclined to do them but would appreciate your thoughts. The steps are very wide, great depth and small riser. LM
@Lilysmom Black wrought iron could work, practically disappears because it is see through and is not a bright color.

@Lilysmom What was the reasoning behind having the first step shorter than all the rest of the stairs?

Just throwing out an option. When we replaced our deck we utilized powder coated aluminum for the balasters. Since we live in a cedar home I kept the rails in wood. Now that the wood rails need repainting, I regret not doing the entire system in powder coated. It is holding up great and comes in a variety of color and style options.

I like the look without railings but realize there are safety issues you have to consider also.

@mousiegirl, et al tree roots. I had four large steps left over from the job that I repurposed. As I am sure you know, birch trees are very fussy. I didn't want to get any closer than we had to. The dozer installed the stairs from above so he didn't get near these birch. I will have to figure out a camouflage here. All suggestions welcome.
We will be in a race to get grass seed down today before it rains!
Still mulling about this area but it is looking a bit more finished. It is a shady area (which I love) so that makes it a hard area to photograph.
Feedback always appreciated. Thanks everyone for your thoughts. Keep 'em coming! LM
PS, a photo works wonders. I can see that I should move the rock line between the steps in closer.🙄
