We had foxes living behind us in our previous home, and we still have them in our most recent home.
I love to watch them but always hope that if they happen to encounter one of our bunnies, the bunny wins.
Three visits from the fox this morning!

@violann -
I can so relate to your post.
I often wish nothing had to eat anything else!
We have our neighborhood hawk who is magnificent and I love seeing him but he is welcome until he searches out any of "my" friends-my chipmonk, my little birds.
They call in warning and I have to chase him off. I know like my daughter says, he has to eat too but not my friends. He has to go somewhere else.
It is amazing that you have foxes to see![]()

We live in the suburbs, but have several families of foxes that live in the wooded areas nearby. I won't say they have no fear of humans, but they've definitely become acclimated to us. It's cute to see the mother fox taking her young for walks through the neighborhood. Years ago, our neighborhood was overrun with rabbits. You could hardly drive down the street without dodging them. Then the foxes came along and the rabbits disappeared.

The area that I live in is suburban, but not a lot of wooded areas. Most have been taken over by developers building new houses.
Sadly, this has a dramatic impact on the local wildlife. I always have Birds, squirrels, rabbits, groundhogs, and the occasional skunk in my neighborhood, but now we have many (and I really mean many) fox families, deer and some coyotes. While I love seeing the fox and deer, it is a concern as they have no where to go to live safely. They run out in traffic and so many times are injured or killed by cars. Just the other day, a fox with an injured leg was roaming around the neighborhood. (we did call animal control to report this as we were worried about the poor thing).
Our rabbit population seems to be ok, and there is a family that has taken up residence under my shed. The babies are so cute.

@Eileen in Virginia I would love to see the mother fox and babies !
I lived in a rural area growing up but only have seen foxes in pictures and maybe zoo like areas. They are beautiful.
Has anyone tried encouraging foxes to try tofu instead of bunnies ? ![]()

Foxes are my favorite animals (after dogs, of course).
I miss the foxes that lived in the backyard of my last house. I always considered it a sign of Good Luck when I would see one. Beautiful animals.

We have foxes but also rabbits eating everything we put out. Lazy foxes.

I'm happy to see foxes - they help keep the rabbit population in check. Cute as they are, it's maddening to see rabbits sampling the ornamental garden in broad daylight.
